Find the steps you need, from setup to daily operations.
Getting started
Administration
- Basics: site & content
Whether or not your site sells anything or runs courses, you will use everything in this section.
- Design system
Define the site's visual language once here, and every page picks it up. This is the biggest difference between donix site and an ordinary page editor — changing your primary color
- Articles
Your blog and knowledge columns live here. This is the easiest place to earn organic traffic.
- Portfolio
Case studies, projects and completed work go here. Structurally it's much like articles, but its categories and layout are separate.
- Pages
The pages you don't keep adding to — home, About us, Contact us.
- Navigation
Which links appear in the nav bar and the footer, and how they're nested.
- Media library
Every image and file you upload lives here, and articles, products and pages all draw from the same set.
- Forms
Contact us, event signups, enquiry forms — every submission is kept in the admin, not just emailed out.
- Popups
First-purchase discounts, newsletter signups, campaign announcements — used well they grow your list, used badly they drive people away.
- Members
The people registered on your site. Cart "customers" and course "students" are all this same list underneath.
- Built-in templates
Pages that the system generates dynamically — article detail, product detail, course sales pages — get their appearance from here.
- Modules
Cart and Course are modules, switched on and off here.
- Logs
Come here when something goes wrong. The three logs are read separately.
- Settings
The things you set once for the whole site.
Commerce
- Cart: selling on your site
Turn the site into a shop. Products, payments, shipping, invoicing, returns and affiliate commission all live in this section.
- Products
Everything you sell starts here.
- Collections
Group your products. One product can belong to several collections at once.
- Inventory
Stock levels for every product and variant, plus a record of each movement.
- Orders
Everything that happens after a customer checks out lives here.
- Returns
When a customer wants to return something and get their money back, use this workflow — don't just edit the order status.
- Discount codes
Discounts that only apply when the customer enters a code.
- Promotions
Offers that apply automatically when the conditions are met, with no code to enter.
- Bundles
A and B together cost less than separately, or an add-on offered just before checkout.
- Points
Loyalty points earned on purchases, redeemable against the next order.
- Store credit
An actual currency balance. Unlike points, store credit is money.
- Affiliates
Give a promotional partner a dedicated link, and commission is calculated automatically on every sale.
- Flash storefronts
Give each group buy host, influencer or physical store their own separate storefront — its own URL, its own product selection, its own sales figures.
- Subscriptions
Recurring billing — monthly boxes, quarterly deliveries, membership fees.
- Abandoned cart
People who added to their cart and never checked out — the easiest group to win back.
- Store settings
Everything that has to be configured before you open.
Courses and webinars
- Courses: teaching online
Put your course online, charge for it, track progress and issue certificates. It shares one member list and one payment setup with the cart.
- Course content
The course itself. Chapters and lessons, video, materials and pricing all live here.
- Sales plans
One course can be sold several different ways.
- Students
Who bought a course, how far they've got, and whether they finished.
- Enrollments
Every record of "who enrolled in which plan of which course".
- Instructors
An instructor's public profile and their revenue share.
- Course orders
Purchase records for courses. Kept separate from cart orders, but sharing the same payment setup.
- Assignments
Work students submit, and your grading of it.
- Discussions
Questions students ask under a lesson. Questions nobody answers drag your completion rate down.
- Reviews
Student ratings and written feedback, shown on the course sales page.
- Certificates
The design of your completion certificate and the conditions for earning it.
- Announcements
Anything the whole class needs to know goes here.
- Course settings
Settings specific to the course module.
